In Africa, although sorting out waste is not institutionalized, recycling is part of daily life. Within a huge informal sector, waste collector work hand in hand with craftsmen. That is how cans become toys, how bottle capsules and iron threads are turned into jewellery boxes, or how furniture is cut out of oil drums.
